What is PROPEL?
PROPEL is The Bay Area’s Peer Professional Network.
The Mental Health Association of San Francisco (MHASF) has been successfully working with peer personnel since 2014 by providing training and placement for peers in Marin County, Alameda County as well as San Francisco. PROPEL provides support, training and placement assistance for individuals who are seeking to be employed (and/or volunteer) as peer personnel in the Public Mental Health System (PMHS). PROPEL also offers the same services to peers who are currently working in the mental health workforce. Peer personnel include individuals with experience as a mental/behavioral health services consumer, family member, and/or parent/caregiver placed in designated peer positions within the PMHS.
PROPEL IS PEER RUN
As a Peer Run Organization, we understand the challenges people with lived experience have when entering the mental health workforce. Our purpose is to make that transition as smooth as can be, and to be sure that every peer remembers that they are here to help transform the system. By becoming a PROPEL member, you will be part of a large network of peers with whom you can share successes, challenges and can access career counseling, job searches, and hands on training.
